I recently finished reading Jennifer Hillier’s thriller Jar of Hearts, and I was blown away by the suspense and unexpected turns.
The heroine of the narrative, Geo, is a young lady who served time in prison for being an accessory to the murder of her closest friend. Geo is forced to face her previous demons in order to survive as she works to rebuild her life as the murderer starts targeting her once more.
Through the use of unexpected turns and twists throughout the book, Hillier does a fantastic job of keeping the reader on the verge of their seat. The pace is just rapid enough to keep the tale going without omitting crucial elements, and the characters are well-developed.
The psychological part of the book is one of its most notable features, as we observe Geo battling her own guilt and trauma from earlier incidents. Hillier does a fantastic job of examining the nuanced interpersonal dynamics between the people and how the crime affects them.
In general, psychological thriller aficionados should read Jar of Hearts. The plot will keep you guessing until the very end, thanks to Hillier’s intriguing writing.
A new bride suffering from catatonia. A determined husband trying to break through the black pit in which her brain escaped to. And a ruthless abomination who will stop at nothing to tear them apart.
