Inspiring Young Minds: My Talk on Writing at Chiang Kai Shek College Southmont + Reading Renzo’s Rainbow

On October 17, 2025, I was blessed with the distinct honor of speaking before Grade 1 students of Chiang Kai Shek (CKS) College Inc. (Southmont) about the joy of writing and storytelling.
It was one of those experiences that fill your heart to the brim — seeing bright young faces light up as we talked about imagination, books, and creativity. 🥰
Sharing the Magic of Stories
Speaking before students who are mostly in their 20s, I shared these two famous author quotes that have served to motivate me and continue to inspire me in my writing journey.
During my visit, I had the joy of reading my children’s picture book, Renzo’s Rainbow, to the class. The story of little Renzo and his search for a rainbow truly came alive as the children listened intently, eyes wide with wonder.
After the reading, they eagerly asked questions—about writing, illustrating, and how Renzo’s Rainbow came to be. Their curiosity was infectious, and their insights were surprisingly deep! Two students even shared that they already have stories of their own—future writers in the making!
It was such a joy to witness their budding passion for storytelling. As a Filipino multi-genre author, inspiring young minds to dream, write, and express themselves creatively is one of the greatest honors of my career.
Planting Seeds of Imagination
Every time I meet young readers, I’m reminded that storytelling is a spark—and when shared early, it can light the way for a lifetime of creativity and empathy.
It is truly an honor to help mold little minds and inspire them to find their voice through words. I can’t wait to read the stories these children will one day write!
